With the entry of young blood, Sandalwood is going through an experimental stage. Directors with new ideas are coming in and are not feared to what they believe is right. As a result, we can see a lot of swamakes (original) films coming up in last few years and becoming hits at the Box Office.

The year 2012 has turned out to be a decent year for the industry. Over 90 films have been made in the current year and 20+ films have earned good money at the Box Office. Though there is a countable superhit films, films with stars have not failed at Box Office.

Of all A-list actors, Upendra had highest number of releases this year. Aarakshaka, Katari Veera Suransundarangi, Godfather and Kalpana. Darshan had two release - Chingari and Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna. Sudeep had no release this year but managed to gain popularity with the massive success of his Telugu film Eega.
