Cauvery dispute: Vishnu-Shivanna fans support bandh

By Ramchander

After Kannada film industry announced that it would lend complete support to the bandh called by pro-Kannada groups over the centre's directive to the state to release 9,000 cusecs of Cauvery water daily for Tamil Nadu, now it is the turn of the fans club of Sandalwood stars to jump into the fray.

The fans associations of late Dr Vishnuvardhan and Shivaraj Kumar have given its full support to the bandh. On Thursday (October 4), the fan clubs staged separate protests and raised voice against the centre claiming that the government is giving step-motherly treatment to Karnataka.

"We would let our blood flow for Tamil Nadu but will not give water to our neighbouring state," the fans shouted. Notable organisations Shivu Adda, Shiva Sainya, Don Shivaraj Kumar Seva Samithi, Kechedeya Simha Shivaraj Kumar Sena Samithi and Vishnu Abhimanigala Sangha took to the streets.

However, the Kannada film industry will remain shut down on October 6. The entire Sandalwood is expected to join the protests tomorrow.
