Interview - Shiva is not a Shivaraj Kumar film: Shivanna

By Ramchander

50 years ago, Kannada film industry saw the birth of a star in the form of Shivaraj Kumar, the son of late Dr Rajkumar. Today, he is one of India's most versatile actors. In an exclusive interview with Prakash Upadhyaya from Oneindia, the superstar speaks on his 100-film journey, Shiva, etc. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

To begin with, tell us about the 100-film journey?
The credit for making me a Century Star should go to the filmmakers, who trusted me and my abilities. Without them, I would not have reached here. They have lifted me up and I cannot forget them in my life. And then, there are my fans, who helped me grow and be what I am today. They never let me down in the world. I would also like to thank god for giving me the strength when I was going through physical or mental stress.

What is Shiva all about?
Shiva is a pakka commercial movie, which has given me youthful looks again. It is a revenge story told in very subtle and jovial way. But the movie is not harsh rather a pleasant, humorous and lovable tale. All the ingredients of success are perfectly blended in the story. And more importantly, we have tried to give some messages to fans. All in all, it caters for all sections of audience.

In recent years, your movies have not lived up to the audience expectations and you are due for a massive hit after Jogi. Would you like to believe that Shiva, which is the most-anticipated movie of the year, can make any difference?
I don't know because it is left to the people. It can only happen with the blessings of god, people, all elderly people and the support of the entire industry. I hope Shiva will impress the audience.

You have joined hands with Om Prakash Rao with whom you have delivered quite a few blockbusters. How was the experience this time?
Om Prakash Rao is a very good director and knows the trend very well. He has made a youthful film with a bunch of young technicians like Sathya Hegde, Deepu, choreographers, actions directors, etc. This is entirely different from AK 47 or Simhada Mari. All I can say is that he has made a youthful film, keeping the new-age sensibilities in mind.

About Ragini Dwivedi...
I think she is really good, glamorous, and she has performed very well in the film. I would also like to tell you that it is not a Shivaraj Kumar film but everybody's film. Everybody made me Shiva and I would not have become Shiva by myself without the support of all the characters. All the technicians and cast have given their best for the movie.

What would you want your fans to expect from this film?
They can see what they love to see in Shivanna. Be it dancing, actions or dialogue delivery, they can enjoy every bit of Shiva.

Finally, which are all your upcoming movies?
Lakshmi, Andar Bahar, Kaddi Pudi and Anna Thamandiru.
