Bangalore:
It's
happening
again.
Another
language
movie
is
forcing
a
successful
Kannada
movie
to
be
removed
from
theatres,
from
its
own
territory!
Well,
Upendra's
Godfather,
which
is
doing
good
business
at
Box
Office,
is
facing
a
tough
times
to
retain
screens
due
to
the
massive
release
of
Salman
Khan
starrer
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
According
to
reports,
some
of
the
main
theatres
in
Bangalore
and
other
parts
of
Karnataka
have
decided
to
replace
Godfather
with
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
Irritated
by
the
development,
distributor
Prasad
of
Samarth
Ventures
has
written
a
letter
to
the
Karnataka
Film
Chamber
of
Commerce
seeking
their
help
to
intervene
and
solve
the
issue.
Prasad
has
requested
the
film
chamber
to
direct
the
theatres
not
to
replace
his
movie
with
other
language
films,
as
Godfather
is
still
running
successfully
all
over
Karnataka.
But
the
distributor
has
not
blamed
Ek
Tha
Tiger
as
the
main
cause
of
the
problem.
However,
it
is
widely
believed
that
the
Salman
Khan
starrer
movie
is
the
only
Bollywood
flick,
which
is
releasing
this
week
and
its
massive
release
in
Karnataka
has
put
the
Upendra
starrer
movie
along
with
other
local
language
movies
in
trouble.
Traders
say
that
not
only
Ek
Tha
Tiger,
but
also
other
language
movies
including
Telugu
movie
Julayi
starring
Allu
Arjun
is
threatening
Kannada
movies.
Distributors
and
theatres
look
forward
to
earn
quick
bucks
at
the
cost
of
the
Kannada
movies,
adds
a
trader.
However,
it
is
not
clear
whether
the
film
chamber
can
help
the
makers
of
Godfather,
as
it
has
failed
to
give
justice
on
earlier
occasions.
Facing
theatre
crunch.
Never
ending
issue?
For
an
industry,
which
produces
over
125
films
per
year,
the
shortage
of
theatres
have
been
a
tough
nut
to
crack.
The
state
has
600
plus
theatres
and
it
faces
stiff
competition
from
other
language
films
that
get
more
number
of
screens
than
the
native
film.
