Troubles and controversies seem to be never ending for Katari Veera Surasundarangi. Well, last week Vishweshateertha seer of Pejawara mutt had warned the makers of the film that he would hold protest if the film shows the Hindu gods in a bad taste. Now, a few Hindutva outfits and pontiffs have raised their voice against the film claiming that the 3D movie hurts the sentiment of the Hindus. As a result, they have stopped screening in Udupi.
Sri Rama Sene and Bajrang Dal halted the screening of Katari Veera Surasundarangi in Udupi on Saturday. They raised the slogans against the film and claimed that the film has shown the Hindu demigods in bad taste. Their protest was backed by Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor mutt. In order to resolve the issue, producer Munirathna and distributor Rockline Venkatesh travelled to Udupi and held a meeting with the Hindu groups. However, it is not sure whether the peace talks have come to fruition.
This is not the first time Katari Veera Surasundarangi is in the news for wrong reasons. Firstly, the movie was hitting the headlines over release issue with producer K Manju, who wanted to release his film Godfather before KVS. Later, a small-time actor Niranjan Shetty brought in a stay order accusing Upendra of plagiarism charges.
Nonetheless, the movie starring Upendra, Ramya and Ambareesh is doing good business at the Box Office.
