Acid Victim Gets Donation From Case No 18/9 Team

Case No 18/9 team came together for a noble cause on Wednesday (August 7). The film unit donated one lakh for an acid victim.

A press meet was organised to announce the same and the cheque was given to acid victim Shruthi, who reportedly inspired Balaji Shaktivel, the original writer of Tamil movie Vazhakku Enn 18/9. They donated Rs 1 lakh.

Shruthi was 16 when she was attacked in August 2002. She was waiting in the bus-stop, when a local lad Rajesh, 18, splashed acid on her face, disfiguring her face. She is unrecognisable now and the culprit is serving his life term sentence in jail.

Speaking at the occasion, Shruthi requested the government to ban acid, which has taken away lives of many girls like her. She also urged that the government should amend tough laws to end the cruel acid-attack issues.

Case No 18/9 is a remake of Tamil hit movie Vazhakku Enn 18/9. The Kannada movie was released last Friday (August 2). Niranjan Shetty, Sindhu Loknath, Shwetha Pandit, Abhishek, Rangayana Raghu, Karthik Sharma and others are in the cast. The film is directed by Mahesh Rao.
