support
for
the
Lesbian,
Gay,
Bisexual
and
Transgender
(LGBT)
community.
Girish
was
participating
in
the
protest,
which
was
organised
by
LGBT
community,
in
city,
on
Sunday.
Recently,
it
was
actor
Prakash
Raj
and
actress
Sukrutha
Vaagle
had
raised
their
voice
against
Supreme
Court's
verdict,
which
made
gay
sex
illegal.
Now,
its
the
Jnanapeet
award
winner
Girsh's
turn
to
express
his
solidarity.
Girish
Karnad
said,
"We've
reached
a
state
in
our
country
where
we
cannot
believe
politicians,
and
got
to
a
place
where
we
trusted
the
courts.
Now
who
do
we
trust?
This
is
heartbreaking
and
a
terrible
thing.
I'm
here
to
say
that
my
friends
have
the
right
to
make
love
with
who
they
wish."
Supreme
Court
ordered
that
gay
sex
was
illegal,
by
striking
down
the
historic
Delhi
High
Court
verdict.
In
the
wake
of
the
judgement,
activists
across
India
staged
massive
protests.
Many
celebrities
came
out
in
the
open
to
support
LGBT
rights.
Prakash
Raj
had
also
requested
his
fans
to
sign
an
online
petition,
which
will
urge
the
government
to
recognise
the
personal
choices
in
the
country.
Sukrutha
Vaagle
had
expressed
her
views
in
her
micro-blogging
site.
