Pics: Ramya Starts Election Campaign, Gets Emotional
Actress Ramya started her election campaign finally on Monday (August 12). After the death of her foster father RT Narayan, the Golden Girl kept herself away from the media glare and did not make public appearance.
On Monday, Ramya held a road show in Mandya. It has been turbulent 10 odd days for the actress. First, it was the demise of her foster father. Later, a politician made a cheap remark on her personal life and parentage. To add fuel to her troubles, there were lots of debate over her personal life in media.
However, putting the bad memories aside, Ramya made her public appearance with the election campaign. She was accompanied by actor-turned-politician Ambareesh and president of Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress Manjula Naidu.
Ramya performed puja at the Sri Kalikamba Temple before starting the campaign. The actress got emotional and was seen sobbing when she came before the people. She folded both her hands and greeted the public.

Ramya's Trademark Smile Missing
All through the campaign, Ramya looked dull as her trademark smile was missing. The pain that she is going through after her father's death was visible on her face.
Ramya Wants To Fulfil Her Father's Dream
Ramya finally broke the silence in the evening and spoke to public by saying that she is contesting the election to fulfill her father's dream.
Ramya Says...
"I want to fulfill my father's wish. I will repay the people for their gratitude," she said at the end of her road show.

Actor and politician Ambareesh was seen speaking on behalf of Ramya during the campaign. The Rebel Star tried his best to console the actress whenever the actress broke into tears.
Election On Aug 21
It is said that Ambareesh is the key person, who made her contest in the polls. She was backed by DK Shivakumar and SM Krishna. The election will be held on August 21.
Ramya's Parentage Questioned
It has to be noted that JD(S) leader M Srinivas, in an election campaign on August 9, raised questions about her background. Apart from remarking about her parentage, he said, "...she does not know where she hails from.... she does not know the name of her caste and such a woman is the Congress candidate!"
Stir Controversy
He had requested the Mandya voters not to elect her. His comment has got a strong reaction from the Congress and other political parties. More importantly, film producer-turned-politician HD Kumaraswamy, who is the state president of JD(S), has not endorsed the Srinivas' comment. He said that he is not aware of his remarks and if Srinivas has made such comment, it should be criticised.
Ramya's Upcoming Movies
Meanwhile, Ramya has a couple of movies in her kitty. Telugu director Kodi Ramakrishna's untitled movie, Dil Ka Raja, Neer Dose and Shivaraj Kumar starrer Aryan are her forthcoming films.
