Is Pooja Gandhi Playing Actress Kalpana's Role In Abhinetri?

It's a known fact that the actress turned politician Pooja Gandhi is playing the role of an unknown yesteryear actress in Sandalwood's forthcoming movie Abhinetri. The rumour mills from Gandhinagara had claimed that the movie is based on the real life story of Kannada yesteryear actress Kalpana.

But Pooja Gandhi, who is playing the lead role in the movie, has said that she has never told that she is playing Kalpana's role in the movie. The actress also revealed that she is not playing one particular actress.

Talking about her role, Pooja Gandhi said, "I've never said I am playing Kalpana. My character is an actress from the 50s and 60s, but that does not mean that I am playing one particular actress. This film is a work of fiction, inspired by the lives of actresses of that time. It is our attempt to present the other side of the coin - things that the common audience knew little of."

Beside playing the title role, Pooja Gandhi is also producing the movie along with BS Vyjayanthi. After Dandupalya in 2012, the actress is making her comeback with the movie. Apart from Pooja, Abhinetri also features Atul Kulkarni and Markran Deshapande in the significant roles.
