Despite facing a lot of troubles and failing to release in Tamil Nadu, Kamal Hassan's mega-budget film Vishwaroopam has managed to win the love of audience. Indeed, the film is doing wonders at the Box Office where ever the film has seen the light of the day.
Vishwaroopam was supposed to release on January 25 worldwide before the film was banned by the Tamil Nadu government after several Muslim groups raised objection against the film. As a result, the film was halted in other places including neighbouring states Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
While in Andhra Pradesh Vishwaroopam was released in theatres on January 26, the film kept postponing in Karnataka fearing that the film could create communal tension in the state. However, it is only after the state police assured of providing security to theatres, the film was released in the state.
The fans of Kamal Hassan, who were badly waiting for the release in Karnataka, did not waste any time in booking tickets - even at the cost of paying a double amount - and flocked into theatres to see their favourite star's film. Well, it has made distributor HD Gangaraju, who had paid a huge amount for the theatrical rights, happy, as the film is rocking at Box Office. Follow the slideshow to know how much it earned....
A cut-out of Kamal in a theatre in Bangalore
Traders say that Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam has made over Rs 1.50 crores in just three days (Jan 30, 31 and Feb 1). The film was released in about 17 theatres in Bangalore and 40 in entire Karnataka.
Especially, Urvashi theatre, which has a seating capacity of 1000 plus, is running full house and Natraj theatre too cashing in on the occasion.
Even multiplexes are not left far behind, as evening shows are getting massive response from the software class. It has to be noted that the film has not released in a few multiplexes due to some issues with the makers of the film.
A source close to the development said, "Vishwaroopam is a massive hit in Karnataka. Like Rajinikanth, the Kannadigas love Kamal Hassan. In fact, the response has stunned distributors."
However, Vishwaroopam is an action-thriller film, which is directed by Kamal Hassan himself. It also features Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead roles.
