Darshan & Sudeep Cause Furore At Dr Raj Memorial Inauguration Cultural Night
Fights between stars is common. The ego clash is seen between superstars in every film industry. Kannada film industry is not new to such ego clash. The difference of opinion between Sudeep and the Rajkumar family has been known for a long time. Now Sudeep's good friend Darshan has also joined his rank.
There was a time when Sudeep and Shivaraj Kumar were good buddies. But now the things are not the same between the two. The two actors are never seen together in any public event and avoid each other with much disdain.
A while back, Shivaraj Kumar tried to douse the fire by saying things are fine between him and Sudeep, but no such statement has come from Sudeep so far. On the other hand Darshan and Sudeep have become very close friends. At one look it would seem like the combination of Darshan and Sudeep is trying to break the hegemony of Parvatamma Rajkumar over the Kannada film industry.
Then again, the events that took place during the cultural event, "Amara Jeeva Dr Rajkumar", organized to celebrate the Dr Rajkumar Memorial inauguration, was very unfortunate and not a healthy sign for the already beleaguered film industry.
During the cultural event, many stars and veteran actors performed on stage to the songs from Dr Rajkumar's movie. The event was seen as a time for the whole state to unite for the common cause of Kannada language. The event was attended by several dignitaries from the entertainment industry and the government.
However, the events that transpired, did not go down well with the fans of Dr Rajkumar. Check out the slides to know more about the controversy.
Show Of Ego On The stage?
The day was marked to celebrate the legacy and life of Dr Rajkumar. All the senior artists like Ambareesh, Sumalatha and Leelavathi performed on the stage to the cheering of the enthusiastic crowd. But being the young guns of the industry, Darshan and Sudeep did not dance during the ceremony. They came on stage and waved their hand to the audience.
Fans Feel Insulted
To celebrate the inauguration of Dr Rajkumar memorial, it was decided that all the dance performance will be on the song from Dr Rajkumar's movies. Sudeep and Darshan were supposed to perform on the song Baghya Enila from the movie Apoorva Sangama. Instead the two actor did a ramp walk.
Too Lazy To Dance?
The fans felt that when senior artists could perform on the day in spite of their old age, Sudeep should not have been lazy to perform a dance sequence. The program was made to celebrate Dr Rajkumar's life. People felt, Sudeep should not have been so callous about it.
Skipping Rehearsals!
To perform on the D-day, many actors and artists had been rehearsing meticulously for almost 4 days. However, both Darshan and Sudeep skipped the rehearsals for the program and were not prepared for the dance at all. Fans feel that the duo have disrespected Dr Raj by doing so.
Not Even A Small Speech?
One can perhaps excuse the two actors for being too busy to come for the rehearsals and practice for the event. But the duo did not even speak a few words after coming on the stage. Both, Darshan and Sudeep came, waved their hands and walked back.
Problems In Sudeep And Darshan's Friendship?
The organizers had selected the song very cleverly for Darshan and Sudeep. The song from the movie Apoorva Sangama was enacted by Dr. Rajkumar and Shankar Nag. The song signified their friendship. However, Sudeep entered the stage alone in the beginning of the song and left after a few minutes. Darshan entered the stage along with Bullet Prakash by the end of the song.
Shivaraj Kumar's Personal Invitation
We cannot say with certainty if there exists bad blood between Shivaraj Kumar and Sudeep. But keeping all personal problems aside, Shivanna had given a personal invitation to Sudeep to come and attend the program and perform along with Darshan. Sudeep had accepted the invitation. Then why did he not perform?
The Crowd Booed The Actors
Very clearly, the crowd, who had come to see the celebration of Dr Rajkumar's life, were unhappy with the conduct of the two actors. They booed both, Darshan and Sudeep for not performing on the stage and termed it as an insult to Dr Rajkumar.
Non-Participation In Dr Raj Cup
Sudeep is the captain of the Karnataka Bulldozers cricket team and has taken part in KPL too. However, he did not participate in the Dr Raj cricket tournament. Many producers met the actor and tried to convince him to take part in the game. But the actor did not comply to their requests.
Bad Blood With Shivaraj Kumar?
Sudeep's ego clash with Shivaraj Kumar has been known for a long time. Sudeep did a voice over for Shivaraj Kumar's Aryan. Sudeep courted controversy by saying that he did only for the director. Time and again, the two actors have excused themselves from sharing the stage. Was that the the reason for this behavior?
What Happened To Darshan?
While Sudeep's behavior could be attributed to his clash with Shivaraj Kumar, people are still not able to understand Darshan's decision. Darshan's father Thogudeep Srinivas was a good friend of Dr Rajkumar. When the family is close, why did the star chose not to perform on the stage?
