IIFA 2014: Sandalwood’s Aishwarya, Deepika Padukone Bags Two Awards

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone, who is also known as ‘Aishwarya' in Sandalwood has bagged two awards at Indian International Film Academy Awards 2014 (IIFA 2014). The model turned actress, who made her on-screen debut with Kannada movie Aishwarya is still famous with the same name in Kannada film industry.

Bangalore girl Deepika Padukone has won Best Entertainer Of The Year (2013) and Best Actor in the lead role (female) for her performance in Bollywood's Blockbuster Chennai Express. The actress was paired opposite Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan in the film.

Deepika Padukone, daughter of the famous Badminton player Prakash Padukone was raised in Bangalore. After the success of her on screen debut Aishwarya, the actress made her Bollywood debut with Om Shanthi Om in which she was paired opposite Shahrukh Khan. In her first Hindi movie the actress played dual role and won the Filmfare Award as the Best Female Debut.

In Kannada film Aishwarya, Deepika Padukone was paired opposite Sandalwood's superstar Upendra. The movie, which was released in 2006 was directed by Kannada's ace filmmaker Indrajith Lankesh. Apart from Uppi and Deepika, the film also had Daisy Bopanna, Ramesh Bhat, Ramkrishna, Sadhu Kokila, Tulsi, Sharan, Om Prakash Rao in the important roles. Continue reading the story on slide show...
