Jayasudha had also played Shivanna's mother in Thayiya Madilu earlier, which was directed by maverick filmmaker S Narayan. Vajrakya is the second combination of Shivaraj Kumar and director Harsha, who are basking in the success of Bhajarangi. The movie, which had broken all the previous records of Shivaraj Kumar's movie was also declared as the Blockbuster hit of the year 2013.

Vajrakaya, which is touted to be an out and out action turned family entertainer will see Shivaraj Kumar in ever seen avatar. It is said that the movie is all about the story of a common man, who will be very kind hearted towards the poor. However, director Harsha is tight lipped about Jayasudha's role in Vajrakya. Sources close to the makers has revealed that Harsha has aimed to recreate the magic of Thayiya Madilu by featuring Jayasudha and Shivanna as mother and son again after seven years. Manjunath aka Jack Maju, who had produced Bhajarangi will also be producing Vajrakaya.
