A Pigeon's Welcome For Dr Rajkumar's Statue

By Sandesh

It was a wow movement for the fans of Kannada's cultural icon Dr Rajkumar, when the pigeon sat on his newly inaugurated statue. The 14.5 feet statue of 'Annavru' was inaugurated in the presence of thousands of his fans, today, January 30, at South End Circle, Bangalore.

The Rajkumar statue, which is made up of brass, resembles his role from the Blockbuster movie Kasturi Nivasa. The inauguration was done by flying pigeons in which one of the pigeon sat on the statue. Apparently, Rajkumar is accompanied by a pigeon in many scenes in Kasthuri Nivasa.

Hattrick hero Shivaraj Kumar and Power Star Puneet Rajkumar graced the event. The statue was inaugurated in the presence Ananth Kumar Member Of Parliament (MP). Bangalore in-charge minister Ramlinga Reddy, Bangalore Mayor Katte Satyanarayana, BJP leader R Ashok and President of Dr Rajkumar's Fans association Sa Ra Govind also graced the event.

Incidentally, the colour version of 1971 movie Kasthuri Nivasa is all set to get re-released on Dr Rajkumar's birthday, April 24. It is the second movie of Rajkumar to get re-released in colour after Satya Harishchandra. Apart from Raj, Kasturi Nivasa also featured Jayanthi, Aarathi, KS Ashwath and Rajashankar in the significant roles.
