Rakshit Shetty's Tribute To Shankar Nag

Young actor/director Rakshit Shetty made a tribute to the legendary Kannada movie maker Shankar Nag on the occasion of latter's 60th birth anniversary. Shankar Nag passed away 25 years back in a tragic road accident. However, his movies have continued to be an inspiration for many upcoming directors.

On the occasion of Shankar Nag's birth anniversary on November 9, Rakshit Shetty posted a photo of the late actor/director on his Facebook page and said that he will commence writing the script of his next movie Thugs Of Malgudi. Rakshit Shetty said that Shankar Nag was his inspiration to make movies, therefore it was only justified that he starts the script on the occasion of Shankar Nag's birthday.

In his post he said, "Have been waiting for this. Wanted to start penning it down on his Birthday. Happy Birthday to my inspiration... #ThugsOfMalgudi". Sandalwood superstar Sudeep is billed to star in this movie. Sudeep was extremely impressed with Rakshit Shetty's directorial debut Ulidavaru Kandante. When Rakshit Shetty had arrived as guest on Bigg Boss Kannada 2, Sudeep has requested Rakshit to direct him in a movie.

The co-incidence is hard to miss here. Shankar Nag got national level fame after making the famous television series Malgudi Days based on RK Narayan's stories. The series was highly appreciated of it's quality. It therefore makes more sense that Rakshit Shetty chose the title Thugs Of Malgudi for his next movie. We may get to see Sudeep playing the role of dacoit in this movie.
