Sandalwood queen Ramya is in news again for a cause! She has raised the issue of equal pay for both the genders in the Kannada film industry. Ramya said that female actors work equally hard as any male actor and deserves to be paid well This is not the first instance that an actress has raised the issue of gender equality.
National award winning actress Tara had also raised voice against the gender discrimination. It has been known fact that female actors are paid less in the industry compared to their male counterparts. What has irked the Kannada actress is the habit of getting actress from North to act in Kannada movies.
Ramya posted on her Facebook page that producers are willing to pay any amount to Telugu/Tamil actress but not the same to a Kannada speaking actress. She also claimed that the Kannada actresses don't get paid a lot when they go to other film industry.
Ramya also claimed that male actors are sometimes paid in tune of crores but the female counterparts have to struggle to get 1/4th of that amount. She also alleged that sometimes the producers don't pay the complete amount and take time to give the complete renumeration.
