Appaji, the name itself speaks everything. This legendary actor has a major role in the growth of KFI. On his birthday today, April 24, we decided to bring you best 30 movies of 'Kannadada Kanmani', Dr Rajkumar.
He was born as Singanalluru Puttaswamayya Muthuraju to father Singanalluru Puttaswamayyan and mother Lakshmamma. Rajjanna's father was also a theatre artist. Inspired by his father, Appaji also started his career through acting in theatre plays.
Dr Rajkumar dropped out his school at the age of 8 and started acting in theatre plays performing minor roles until he was 25. Appaji made his debut through Bedara Kanappa, written by legendary script writer GV Iyer. The actor has acted in total 208 movies till date and Shabdavedhi was his last.
No one till date in Kannada film industry has replaced what has been achieved by Dr Rajkumar, not only in acting but also in receiving the numerous awards. He is worshiped as a cultural icon all over Karnataka.
Rajjanna has received eleven Karnataka State Film Awards, ten South Filmfare Awards, National Award For Best Playback Singer, NTR Award, Doctorate from the Univesity of Mysore and he is also a recipient of Padma Bushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his lifetime contribution to Indian film industry.
