Sandalwood Stars In Cop Roles: From Shankar Nag’s Sangliyana To Puneeth Rajkumar’s Rana Vikrama
Two more days to go for Puneeth Rajkumar's Rana Vikrama to release. Directed by Pawan Wadeyar and produced by Jayanna, the movie is grand releasing on April 10, all over India.
Well, we have already reported that Puneeth aka Appu is playing a cop and as well as a student in the movie. Before Puneeth, there are many actors in Kannada film industry who have shone as Police Officers in the movies. Firstly, we would like to mention the name of the legendary actor Shankar Nag.
Shankar Nag's acting as a Police Officer in Sangliyana(1999) will be cherished forever. Secondly, it is our Sahasa Simha Dr Vishnuvardhan. Popularly called as ‘Lion' of Sandalwood, Vishnu Dhada has acted as a Police Officer in 3-4 movies.
The list goes on, to be more specific with the top actors Dr. Rajkumar has also acted as a cop in his last movie Shabhavedhi(2000).
Actor Sai Kumar has created his own style in Kannada film industry when he acted in a cop role in Police Story. Young actors like Shivarajkumar, Upendra, Sudeep, Darshan, Nenapirali Prem have already acted as cops in their movies.
Now, Puneeth Rajkumar is a new addition to the list. He plays a mass Police Officer in the upcoming movie Rana Vikrama. Will Puneeth Rajkumar break the records of other actors as a cop? For, this let's wait for the movie to release.

Shankar Nag
Sangliyana(1988) was a blockbuster. The movie starred Shankar Nag, Bhavya and Tara in the lead roles. Later in 1990 a sequel to this was released as S P Sangliyana.
Sahasa Simha Vishnuvardhan
A special mention about Dr. Vishnuvardhan is necessary as we are talking about the actors who have acted as Police Officers. The actor has acted in 3-4 movies in the cop role.
Dr Rajkumar
Directed by S Narayan and produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar, Dr Rajkumar acted as a Police Officer in Shabhavedhi. Ironically, Shabhavedhi is the last movie of the legendary actor, which is remembered till date.
Shivarajkumar
Well, Shivarajkumar who brought a new era of rowdyism through Om, is also appreciated for playing cop role in the movies. The actor played a Police Officer in Annavara Makkalu Naavu.
Sai Kumar
Sai Kumar acted as a Police officer in Police Story. Directed by Thriller Manju, the movie turned out to be a blockbuster hit. Later is was dubbed to Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.
Sudeep
In 2011, Sudeep acted in Kempegowda. His acting as a Police Officer in Kempegowda gave a huge break to the actor. Kempegowda was the official remake of Tamil superhit movie Singham.
Nenapirali Prem
Prem popularly known as Nenapirali Prem who is much appreciated for his lover boy roles in his movies, has also played as cop in Shatru. But, according to the reports, Shatru was a moderate hit at box office.
Darshan
Challenging Star Darshan is the king of mass movies. He is well known for playing tapori and cop roles. The given photo is from his upcoming movie Airavata. The actor will be again seen as a Police Officer in the movie.
Upendra
Sandalwood's Superstar Upendra has also acted as a Police Officer in the movie Aarakshaka. Interestingly, Upendra was seen in a dual role in the movie.
Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar
Last but not the least, Puneeth Rajkumar is playing a cop role in the upcoming movie Rana Vikrama. The movie is set for a grand release on April 10. Rana Vikrama stars Puneeth, Adah Sharma and Anjali in the lead roles.
