5 Darshan Movies That Surprised Everyone!

Challenging Star Darshan, as he is called by his fans, has delivered a number of hits in his career like Sarathi, Bul Bul, Kranthi Veera, Sangolli Rayanna and many more. But there are a few movies of Darshan, which released without much expectations or had a low key release but turned out to be the biggest hits.

Not all heroes have delivered hits when they were not expected to, may be Darshan is one of the very few stars who has been surprising his detractors from day one.

Dasa
This was the second outing for Darshan and PN Sathya, who had made super successful debuts with Majestic but there were not much expectations around this project.

It had a low key release but thanks to the masses, the movie turned out to be the biggest grosser of 2003. The movie did record business and was highest in Challenging Star's career at that point of time.

Kalasipalya
Kalasipalya was made by the top producer Ramu, director Om Prakash Rao and top star Darshan, the movie had decent buzz around it.

The movie did excellent business and rewrote all the records of Darshan and this success pushed Darshan to the top league. With this movie, Darshan became a synonym for action and mass movies. Not to forget, Rakshitha was the Crazy Queen hereafter, and Darshan-Rakshitha pair became a rage.

Gaja
Gaja was a based on a Telugu Movie which was a family entertainer, not what fans would expect from Mass Hero Darshan and was being directed by debutant Madesh.

This movie which released for Sankranthi turned out to be a perfect movie for families in the festive season and ended up as the biggest grosser of 2008. The audiences ratified Darshan's presence in the top league with this blockbuster.

Sarathi
The movie had the successful combination of Thoogudeepa brothers Darshan and Dinakar, but just when the movie was about to release, Darshan could not promote the movie or attend any promotional events. The release of the movie was doubtful because of financial problems and there were hardly any ads in leading publications on the release date.

Despite no publicity and promotions, the movie became one of the biggest hits of Kannada Film Industry. After success of Sarathi, there was no looking back for Darshan, who moved to the top position in the industry.

Jaggu Dada
This movie came after three bad outings of Challenging Star and movie was directed by a debutant, so the expectations were not really high for this movie. Detractors expected this to be another failure but the Challenging Star surprised us with his cynics with blockbuster opening.

The movie was appreciated by fans and critics liked the movie as well, which helped the movie to gross over 12 Crores in the opening weekend. The movie is on its way to be a much needed hit, for Challenging Star Darshan.
