A Film On Dr. BR Ambedkar's Wife Ramabai

A film on Dr. BR Ambedkar's wife Ramabai has hit the screens all over Karnataka. Directed by M Ranganath and produced by Y Srinivas, the film is titled Ramabai.

Actress Yajna Shetty has played the role of Ramabai while Siddaram Karnik plays Ambedkar in the movie, which has cinematography by Gurudutt Musuri and music composed by K Kalyan.

"We have shot the film in Dharwad and Karwar, where Ambedkar spent some time," the producer has told to a leading daily, adding that it was Ramabai's bravery and will power that inspired him and his team to make a movie based on her life.

It is because of Siddaram Karnik's close resemblance to Ambedkar, the team went ahead and roped him in. Also, it is said that a play called 'Ramabai' is quite famous in North Karnataka and that the play is organized by none other than Siddaram Karnik.

"We asked Karnik to essay the role of Ambedkar in 'Ramabai', specifically because of that," Srinivas has said.
