Remaking a blockbuster film or a film that has garnered fantastic responses is already a norm. The moment a film is declared a hit, producers from other industries would have queued up to procure the remake rights.
The latest movie on the horizon is the Telugu movie, Pelli Choopulu. This film was made in a shoestring budget by debutant director with newcomers. The film did record collections worldwide, especially in the USA.
Now, Sanjeev Khasnis of Harsha Entertainers, has bagged the remake rights of the film for a fancy price. He managed to get the rights despite the tough competition from half a dozen producers.
Sanjeev is currently producing MTV Subbalakshmi with Gurunandan and Mayuri, Ira with Rajavardhan and Krishi Thapanda. He has already roped in choreographer turned director Murali for directing the flick.
Murali made his directorial debut with Namo Bhootatma last year, and movie was declared a hit. Later, there were several reports suggesting that Murali is directing Darling Krishna, a film for Jayanna Combines, but nothing materialized.
Makers Murali and Sanjeev are in talks with Gurunandan and Shraddha Srinath, to play the lead roles. We hear that the talks are in the final stage and both the actors are almost on board.
Gurunandan is busy with multiple projects Smile Please, Raju Rangitaranga and Missing Boy. He has completed the shoot for Smile Please whereas he has couple of days' shoot left for the other two films.
Shraddha has completed shoot for Urvi, which has already created good buzz. She has few days' shoot left for Suni's Operation Alamelamma. She is a part of three Tamil movies, for which she is shooting currently.
More details about the project is awaited. Official announcement regarding the project will be made in a week. The makers intend to start shooting by end of December, once the lead pair have finished their prior commitments.
