Critically Acclaimed Raaga Struggles To Get Theatres
Despite fantastic reviews, the Kannada movie, Raaga did not get enough theatres. This was partly because of the huge release of Baahubali 2.

April
21,
in
over
60
centers
garnered
good
responses
from
critics.
But
this
did
not
help
the
film
or
its
makers
as
audience
did
not
throng
to
theatress
to
watch
the
film
despite
the
fantastic
reviews.
With
the
not-so-encouraging
collections,
the
film
was
replaced
or
shows
were
decreased
in
first
weekend
itself
in
centers
like
Mandya.
The
makers
blame
theatres
owners
that
they
are
not
giving
a
chance
for
the
collections
to
improve
and
killing
the
film
within
first
few
days
of
release.
With
Telugu
film
Baahubali
releasing
big,
producer
and
actor
Mithra
had
to
witness
even
worse
consequences
wherein
film
was
not
supposed
to
continue
in
any
theatres
or
multiplex
in
its
second
week.
Director
PC
Shekar
posted
a
video
on
social
networking
sites
where
he
emotionally
spoke
about
the
situation
of
Kannada
films
in
Karnataka.
Sa
Ra
Govindu,
President
of
Karnataka
Film
Chamber
of
Commerce
(KFCC)
intervened
and
called
the
makers
of
Raaga
for
a
meeting
where
he
spoke
with
theatres
owners
and
multiplexes
regarding
the
allocation
of
shows
for
the
film
in
second
week.
Finally,
film
managed
to
get
two
shows
in
main
theatres
Kapali
for
the
second
week
and
also
five
shows
each
in
multiplexes
for
two
days.
Now
the
makers
are
optimistic
of
good
responses
from
audience
which
will
get
them
more
shows
in
multiplexes
over
the
week.
