The SIIMA Awards 2018 has kick-started in Dubai, and the Kannada film audiences would have been eagerly looking forward for the second day of the event, which would honour the talents as well as the movies of Sandalwood that went on to etch a place in the minds of the audiences in the year 2017. The previous year witnessed the arrival of some big hits and critically appreciated Kannada movies and hence, the competition at the award circuits so far has been intense and interesting.
The nominations for the SIIMA Awards 2018 (Kannada) were out a few months ago and were open for public voting. It was Puneeth Raajkumar's blockbuster movie Raajakumara that bagged the maximum number of nominations with the film making an entry in 11 different categories.
Similarly, Kannada movie Chamak, which was one of the most appreciated movies of 2017, is closely behind, with the film bagging nearly 9 nominations. Along with these movies, there are other big films like Mufti, Bharjari, etc., in the race. Take a look at the list of winners.
Best Cinematographer – Santhosh Raj Pataje
Chamak was one of the biggest successes of the year 2017. Its cinematographer Santhosh Raj Pataje has been adjudged as the Best Cinematographer at the SIIMA Awards 2018 (Kannada) for his fabulous work in the movie.
Best Lyricist – Santhosh Anand
The theme song from the blockbuster movie Raajakumara was an equally big success. Santhosh Anand, who penned the song, has won the SIIMA 2018 (Kannada) for the best lyricist.
Best Playback Singer (Female) – Anuradha Bhatt
Popular singer Anuradha Bhatt has bagged the award for the Best Playback Singer (Female) at the SIIMA 2018 (Kannada). She won the award for the song Appa I Love You from the movie Chowka.
Best Playback Singer (Male) – Ravi Basur
The song Chanda Chanda from the movie Anjaniputra was one of the top songs of the previous year. Ravi Basrur has won the Best Playback Singer (Male) at SIIMA 2018 (Kannada) for his rendition of the song.
Best Music Director – V Harikrishna
Raajakumara had some excellent songs set to tune by V Harikrishna. The musician has been adjudged as the Best Music Director (Kannada) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Debut Director – Tharun Sudhir
Popular actor Tharun Sudhir did make an impressive debut as a film-maker with the movie Chowka. Rightly, he has been adjudged as the Best Debut Director (Kannada) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Debut Actor (Female) - Ekta Rathod
Actress Ekta Rathod, who made her entry to the Kannada film industry, with the movie Siliconn Valley, has won the title of Best Debut Actor (Female) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Debut Actor (Male) - Rishi
Young actor Rishi, who made his debut with the highly acclaimed movie Operation Alamelamma, has won the title for the Best Debut Actor (Male) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Film - Raajakumara
Raajakumara, the film starring Puneeth Rajkumar in the lead role was one of the biggest hits of the year 2017. The film has been adjudged as the Best Movie (Kannada) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Actress In A Leading Role - Shanvi Srivastava
Actress Shanvi Srivasatava, who impressed one and all with her powerful performance in the movie Taarak, has won the title for Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) at SIIMA 2018.
Best Actor In A Leading Role - Puneeth Rajkumar
Puneeth Rajkumar had come up with a powerful and impactful performance in the movie Raajakumara. The much loved actor has won the title for the Best Actor In A Leading Role(Kannada) at SIIMA 2018 for his performance in Raajakumara.
