The Villain Day 7 Box Office Collections: The Sudeep-Shivarajkumar Starrer Slows Down A Bit

The film hit the screens on October 18, 2018, and opened to a good response at the Karnataka box office. It has stayed strong since and continued ruling the ticket window, Here is the latest box office report.
A Drop In Collections
According to the latest trade reports, The Villain witnessed a drop in collections on Wednesday (October 24, 2018) and raked in Rs 2.80 Crore at the Karnataka box office. This is a reasonably good total, considering the fact that most films tend to slow down a bit during the weekdays.
Week 2 Is Crucial
Released across nearly 500 screens in Karnataka alone, The Villain is the biggest Kannada film in the recent times. The wide release has helped it stay stable throughout Week 1 and rake in a good amount of money. The Villain has been shot against a budget of Rs 60 Crore and this makes it a high-risk film. It needs to do well in Week 2 as well in order to emerge as a successful venture.
Will The Mixed WOM Be An Issue?
The consensus is that The Villain is an okayish film that does full justice to Sudeep's abilities as an actor. However, at the same time, Shivarajkumar fans are not too happy about it. They feel that SRK has a relatively shorter role when compared to 'Kichha'. Moreover, some critics have also pointed out that the screenplay is a bit 'illogical' and fails to hold one's attention. As such, the WOM is a bit mixed. And, this might create some problems for The Villain in Week 2.
The Road Ahead
The Villain features Sandalwood's biggest names in the lead and it has been directed by the ace film-maker Prem. As such, it is bound to remain the focus of the fans in the coming days. The Villain is likely to pick up again over its second weekend.
