Day
8
Collections
According
to
the
latest
trade
estimates,
The
Villain
collected
Rs
1.58
Crore
at
the
Karnataka
box
office
on
Thursday
(October
25,
2018)
and
managed
to
hold
its
own
at
the
ticket
window.
The
figure
is
a
bit
on
the
lower
side,
but
it's
still
decent/good,
considering
Thursday
was
a
weekday.
A
High
Stakes
Affair
The
Villain
is
the
biggest
Kannada
film
in
the
recent
times.
It
has
been
shot
against
a
budget
of
Rs
60
Crore
and
been
released
on
500
screens
in
Karnataka
alone.
The
impressive
scale
of
release
makes
it
a
'high
risk'
project.
As
such,
it
has
to
stay
strong
in
Week
2
in
order
to
emerge
as
a
clean
hit.
The
WOM
Is
Mixed
The
general
feeling
is
that
The
Villain
is
a
decent
film
that
does
full
justice
to
Sudeep's
abilities
as
a
performer.
However,
at
the
same
time,
Shivarajkumar's
fans
are
not
too
happy
about
the
film,
as
they
feel
that
SRK
has
been
given
less
importance
when
compared
to
the
'Abhinaya
Chakravarthy'.
Moreover,
some
critics
have
also
stated
that
the
screenplay
is
a
bit
'illogical' and
not
very
compelling.
All
in
all,
the
WOM
is
a
bit
mixed
and
this
might
be
a
problem
for
The
Villain
in
Week
2.
The
Way
Ahead...
The
Villain
is
still
the
top
pick
of
the
casual
movie-goers
and
die-hard
fans.
As
such,
it
is
likely
to
pick
up
once
again
in
its
second
weekend
and
continue
ruling
the
box
office.
