The Villain, the much-awaited Kannada movie of the year, featuring the biggies Shivarajkumar and Sudeep in the lead roles made it to the theatres on October 18, 2018. The film opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audiences. Going by the reports, The Villain is doing a steady business at the box office and at the same time, the film hasn't met with the huge expectations that it had created prior to its release.

Meanwhile, The Villain's director Prem has received abusive videos upon the release of the movie. According to a report by Indian Express, Prem has received atleast 9 abusive videos. Reportedly, the director has filed a complaint with the police regarding the same.

"Everyone has the right to an opinion about my work. But some have indulged in personal attacks targeting my family. And it is unacceptable," the director was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

According to the report, Prem has also filed a defamation case against three of the accused. It has also been mentioned that his rivals in the industry have been planning these attacks. The Villain director reportedly said, "I have complained against all who had used foul language against my family in the videos. They all claim themselves to be fans of Shivarajkumar. True fans of such a great actor won't behave this way."
