James Kannada Movie Day 1 Collection: Puneeth Rajkumar Starrer Beats KGF And Sets All Time Record

Puneeth Rajkumar's posthumous release James hit the theatres on March 17, amid much fanfare. The actioner as expected received a highly positive response from all quarters. In fact, its box office collection has also overpassed the blockbuster film KGF, starring Yash. As per early estimates, James has collected nearly Rs 27 Crore with its theatrical run in Karnataka. For the unversed, KGF had minted Rs 24 Crore on day 1 when it was released in 2018.

Talking more about the film's first-day theatrical run, James had over 2500 shows in Karnataka alone, which itself is a record. Overall, the film had 4000+ shows on day 1. In Bengaluru region, tickets of as many as 810 shows were sold out, out of 920. In Mysuru and Shivamogga, all tickets for 107 and 27 shows respectively were sold out. Interestingly, James has also become the only Indian movie to have the highest shows in Bengaluru. In the list, Rajinikanth's 2.0 and Prabhas' Sahoo and Baahubali 2 are in second, third and fourth spots respectively.

Written and directed by Chethan Kumar, James has Priya Anand as the leading lady. Versatile actors including Srikanth, R Sarathkumar, Tilak Shekar, Mukesh Rishi, Aditya Menon, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Chikkanna and Shine Shetty are appearing in supporting roles. Puneeth's actor-brothers Raghavendra Rajkumar and Shiva Rajkumar have also made cameo appearances in the film.
