Rishab Shetty became a popular name all over the world with just one film, Kantara. The movie took the Kannada film industry, the intriguing culture, and the tradition of the northern Karnataka region to a global platform. The movie, which was released in Kannada without much pre-release buzz on September 30, 2022, went on become one of the highest grosser of the year and all time, in the Kannada film industry.

Produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films on a budget of Rs 16 Crore, the movie made a whopping Rs 450 Crore and above from all languages it was later dubbed into- Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Kantara catapulted Rishab Shetty into an A-lister actor-director-writer. Soon followed widespread acclaim and awards with recognition for the talented youngster.

On the occasion, an ecstatic Rishab took to his Twitter handle to show his respect and love to the most important people in his life and his fans. He put out a statement thanking many who are responsible for this win.

In the long thank you note, Rishab Shetty mentioned this Dadasaheb Phalke award as a feather in the cap of Kantara. He said that he cannot wait to make more and better films together with Vijay Kiragandur. For Pragathi Shetty his wife, the actor-director said thanks for being his pillar and supporting his small dream. Towards the end, Rishab mentioned that he dedicated this award to Daiva Nartakaru, the people of Karnataka, the late Puneeth Rajkumar, and the legendary Bhagavan sir.
