Complaint
Over
Alleged
Threats:
The
Bengaluru
Ashok
Nagar
police
have
initiated
a
case
against
the
Kannada
YouTube
channel
known
as
TV
Vikrama.
This
action
comes
in
response
to
allegations
of
threats
against
actor
Prakash
Raj
regarding
his
recent
comments
on
Sanatana
Dharma.
The
case
was
registered
following
a
formal
complaint
filed
by
the
actor.
The
police
have
reported
that
they
filed
an
FIR
on
Wednesday
and
are
currently
conducting
an
investigation.
According
to
the
formal
complaint,
the
video
broadcast
by
the
channel
contained
provocative
speeches
intended
to
incite
viewers
and
posed
a
threat
to
both
the
actor
and
his
family.
In
his
complaint,
Prakash
Raj
cited
the
contents
of
the
video,
which
allegedly
included
statements
such
as
"Stalin
and
Prakash
Raj
must
be
eliminated." The
video,
which
was
purportedly
threatening
Prakash
Raj,
had
reportedly
amassed
thousands
of
views
on
YouTube.
In
his
formal
complaint,
Prakash
Raj
stated
that
the
video
portrayed
him
and
his
family
members
negatively,
essentially
stirring
up
public
sentiment
against
them.
He
asserted
that
the
video
was
a
blatant
endeavour
to
convey
a
life-threatening
message
to
him
and
his
family,
calling
for
the
necessary
measures
to
be
taken
against
the
owner
of
the
YouTube
channel
and
any
other
implicated
individuals.

TV
Vikrama
Faces
FIR
For
Provocative
Content
An
FIR
has
been
lodged
against
the
YouTube
channel
TV
Vikrama
under
sections
506
(pertaining
to
criminal
intimidation),
504
(related
to
intentional
insult
and
provocation
of
individuals),
and
505(2)
(involving
the
distribution
of
printed
or
engraved
materials
containing
defamatory
content)
of
the
Indian
Penal
Code
(IPC).
TV
Vikrama
is
reportedly
identified
as
a
YouTube
channel
known
for
advocating
pro-Hindutva
positions
and
ideologies.
The
purported
threats
have
surfaced
following
Prakash
Raj's
recent
statements
about
Sanatana
Dharma.
These
remarks
were
made
by
Prakash
Raj
during
his
address
to
writers
and
artists
in
Kalaburagi.
In
his
speech,
he
contended
that
individuals
who
vigorously
promote
Sanatana
Dharma
and
Hindutva
are
not
genuine
Hindus
but
rather
"contractors
of
Hindutva."
"Those
who
speak
aggressively
about
Sanatana
Dharma
and
Hindutva
aren't
true
Hindus;
they
are
contractors
of
Hindutva.
Such
remarks
are
often
driven
by
political
agendas.
It's
important
for
people
to
discern
the
underlying
motives
behind
such
statements,
and
I
hope
they
will,"
stated
Prakash
Raj
during
his
address
to
writers
and
artists
in
Kalaburagi.
These
remarks
came
after
Tamil
Nadu
Minister
Udhayanidhi
Stalin
compared
Sanatana
Dharma
to
diseases
such
as
malaria
and
dengue,
intensifying
the
ongoing
debate
on
this
issue.
The
actor
received
the
threat
just
days
after
more
than
15
writers
and
intellectuals
from
the
state
wrote
to
Home
Minister
G.
Parameshwara.
They
expressed
that
they
had
been
receiving
threatening
letters
for
the
past
year
and
requested
a
meeting
with
the
minister.
They
also
mentioned
receiving
letters
that
implied
they
would
meet
a
fate
similar
to
that
of
the
late
activists,
MM
Kalburgi
and
Gauri
Lankesh.
