Bhagya Lakshmi Actor Padmaja Rao Sentenced To 3 Months Of Jail & Rs. 40.20 Lakhs Fine, Here's Why

Bhagya Lakshmi fame actor Padmaja Rao has been making headlines after it is reported that the actress has been sentenced to jail and fined a hefty amount. The actress, who was also seen in Janaki Raghava and Arnachai Pookal, is a versatile actress, who has garnered large fame for being a widely recognized producer and a versatile actress.

Why Is Padmaja Rao Sentenced To Jail?

The television actress was sentenced to 3 months of imprisonment and a hefty fine of Rs. 40.20 Lakhs after the court has passed a judgement in a cheque bounce case. This happened after the actress had taken a hand loan from Veerendra Shetty, owner of Veeru Talkies, of Rs. 40 Lakhs and furnished a cheque as security on June 17 from her ICICI bank account. However, due to insufficient funds, it was dishonored by the bank. Furthermore, she failed to repay the loan even after getting notice.

In the court hearing, Padmaja claimed that she has not taken any loan from Veerendra and neither did she give any cheque to the Veeru Talkies owner. It was further claimed that the cheque is stolen from Padmaja's house while forging her signature. Later, Justice Fawaz of the 8th JMFC Court, ordered Padmaja Rao to pay a fine of Rs. 40.20 lakhs out of which 40.17 Lakh is of the complaints' while the remaining 3000 is of the court's.
