Harish Rai Passes Away: Kannada actor Harish Rai, widely recognized for his roles in Om, Nalla, and the blockbuster films KGF and KGF Chapter 2, passed away on Thursday, November 6, at Kidwai Hospital in Bengaluru, according to a report by Oneindia. Harish Rai had been battling thyroid cancer for several years, and his condition had recently worsened. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Harish Rai, often remembered for his portrayals of villains in Kannada cinema, had been dealing with severe health complications. Reports indicate the cancer had affected his stomach, causing visible bloating and significant weight loss. Despite undergoing treatment, his condition remained critical in recent months.
Social media influencer Gopi Gowdru had shared a video of Rai appealing for financial support, highlighting the immense cost of his treatment. Harish Rai had revealed that his cancer treatment was extremely expensive, with costs running into several lakhs over multiple cycles.
According to the Oneindia report, Harish Rai had previously mentioned that actor Yash, his co-star in KGF, had assisted him in the past but clarified that he had not approached him for his recent medical expenses. Harish Rai expressed confidence that Yash would offer support if needed, stating that his family could reach out to the actor if necessary.
From Om to KGF: A Lasting Legacy
Over his decades-long career, Harish Rai worked in Kannada as well as other South Indian film industries. He was best known for his roles as Don Roy in Om and Khasim in KGF, and also appeared in films such as Samara, Bangalore Underworld, Jodihakki, Raj Bahadur, Sanju Weds Geetha, and Swayamvara.
