Ranya Rao Arrest: In a shocking turn of events, Kannada actress Ranya Rao has been arrested in a gold smuggling case. According to an Asianet report, the actress has been caught by the customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru in charges for smuggling illegal gold. Reportedly, Ranya Rao has been arrested by DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) officials for allegedly smuggling around 15 kg of gold.
Reportedly, the incident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday (March 4, 2025) at the airport after she landed in the city from her Dubai trip.

Born on 28th May 1993, as per a News First Prime report, Ranya Rao kickstarted her career as a model. She made her acting debut in Kiccha Sudeep's 2014 Kannada film 'Maanikya'. She rose to fame over her performances in the 2016 Tamil film 'Wagah' and 2017 Kannada movie 'Pataki'. As reported by News First Prime, she is the daughter of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Ramachandra Rao.
Ranya, who originally hails from Chikmagalur, Karnataka, is a prominent name in the South film industry. The 32-year-old actress completed her schooling in Bangalore and pursued engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore. As per reports, she later attended an acting institute before giving acting a chance.
