Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 Faces Allegations Of Environmental Damage During Filming

Kantara Chapter 1 Faces Environmental Damage Allegations

Kantara - Chapter 1 Faces Environmental Damage Allegations: The highly anticipated prequel to Kantara, titled Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty, has landed in controversy as it faces allegations from locals in Karnataka. The film is being shot in the dense forests of Gavigudda, located in the western part of the state. However, reports have emerged claiming that the production team may have caused harm to the environment and wildlife in the area.

Former Zilla Panchayat member Sanna Swamy has raised concerns, accusing the filmmakers of damaging the forest and negatively impacting local wildlife. According to a report by India Today, Sanna Swamy pointed out that farmers in the region were already struggling with wild elephant attacks, and the disturbances caused by the film crew could exacerbate the situation. He emphasized that despite the Supreme Court's order to protect forests, local authorities have failed to act, urging immediate intervention to prevent further harm.

Tensions on the set also escalated when some local residents confronted the film crew over the alleged environmental damage. According to reports, the situation turned into an altercation, which resulted in an injury to a young man from the area. The individual was subsequently hospitalized at Crawford Hospital in Sakleshpur. A case has been filed at the Yesalur Police Station in connection with the incident.

As of now, neither Rishab Shetty nor the film's production team has issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
