The Devil OTT And Satellite Rights: Darshan's Action Film's Digital And TV Deal Likely Finalised

The Devil Digital and Satellite Rights: The upcoming Kannada film The Devil, headlined by actor Darshan, is reportedly in talks with Zee for both its digital and satellite rights. While there has been no official confirmation, industry buzz suggests that Zee5 and Zee Kannada are the frontrunners to acquire the film's OTT and television premiere rights.
Written and directed by Prakash Veer, who also serves as one of the producers, The Devil is billed as an action-packed drama featuring a prominent cast that includes Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Jisshu Sengupta, Mukesh Rishi, and Fardeen Khan. The film is backed by Shri Jaimatha Combines, with J. Jayamma producing and Thashwini Veer serving as executive producer.
Shoot Interrupted, Then Resumed
The project was officially announced on November 2, 2023. Principal photography began on March 22, 2024, in Bengaluru. However, production hit a roadblock in June 2024 after Darshan was arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. Reports from February 2025 confirmed that filming had resumed following the pause.
A teaser for The Devil was unveiled on February 16, 2025, coinciding with Darshan's birthday. The teaser generated significant online traction, particularly due to its timing amid ongoing legal controversies involving the actor.
While audiences are curious about the release date, attention has shifted to the film's post-theatrical plans. With Zee5 potentially acquiring the digital rights and Zee Kannada handling the satellite rights, the film could reach a wide audience beyond the theatrical circuit. However, until an official announcement is made, these reports remain speculative.
Behind the camera, The Devil boasts a technical team led by cinematographer Sudhakar S. Raj and music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath. The post-production work, including visual effects and color grading, is being handled by Annapurna Studios, with Ashwath serving as the colorist. Action choreography is by Ram-Lakshman, and art direction is credited to Mohan B. Kere.
As anticipation builds around both the film's content and its distribution strategy, viewers can expect further clarity in the coming weeks. Until then, the buzz around The Devil continues to grow-on and off screen.
