Yash's 'Toxic' To Be Filmed In English And Kannada; Production Costs Surge Significantly: Report

Toxic To Be Shot As A Bilingual Film: After the nationwide success of the KGF series, Kannada superstar Yash is set to make his highly anticipated return to the big screen with Toxic - A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geethu Mohandas, known for award-winning films like Liar's Dice and Moothon, Toxic has already generated immense buzz among cinema enthusiasts.
Toxic: Bilingual Production
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the makers have opted to shoot the film simultaneously in both English and Kannada, with plans to dub it in multiple Indian and international languages. The decision to make the film bilingual is driven by its universal appeal, as the story is crafted to engage audiences worldwide. However, this move has significantly impacted production expenses, reportedly increasing costs by approximately 40%. Despite the financial challenges, the filmmakers remain steadfast in their vision to create a project that showcases Indian cinema on a global platform.
Toxic: Teaser Reception And Controversy
On January 8, the first glimpse of Toxic was unveiled on Yash's birthday. The teaser, titled Toxic: Birthday Peek, was met with an enthusiastic response from fans. However, certain shots in the teaser, where Yash's character is seen lifting women and pouring alcohol on them, sparked controversy, particularly in Kerala. Critics questioned the portrayal of women, pointing out the irony of such scenes being directed by someone who has previously spoken against objectification in cinema.
Toxic: High-Profile International Collaborations
The production team has reportedly enlisted international talent to enhance the film's global appeal. One of the key names involved is action director JJ Perry, known for his work in Hollywood, including Day Shift (Director), The Killer's Game (Director), Django Unchained (Stunt Performer), Olympus Has Fallen (Fight Performer), and John Wick (Stunt Player). Perry has reportedly designed and is currently filming high-intensity action sequences for the project. Additional global talents have also been brought on board to further strengthen the film's international reach. Toxic is reportedly one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema.
Toxic: Production and Release Plans
Toxic is being produced by KVN Productions in collaboration with Monster Mind Creations, with Venkat K Narayana and Yash himself serving as producers. While an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, the film is expected to hit theaters later this year.
With its ambitious scale, international collaborations, and bilingual approach, Toxic is shaping up to be one of the most significant Indian films of the year. Fans are eagerly awaiting further updates, and expectations continue to soar as Yash gears up for another landmark project in his career.
