Yash’s Toxic Delay Rumours Resurface Again; Tara Sutaria Breaks Silence And Sets Record Straight

Toxic remains on track for a June 4, 2026 release amid controversy surrounding the teaser and public complaints. The film features a high-profile cast and is produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, with Geetu Mohandas directing. Stakeholders emphasise continued stability in release plans despite public scrutiny.

Actor Tara Sutaria has countered speculation that Yash’s pan-India film Toxic may skip its planned opening. Despite fresh gossip about another delay, Tara has clarified that the large-scale project is still targeting a theatrical release on June 4, 2026, signalling stability for one of the most discussed upcoming Indian films.

The film has already sparked strong debate because of its first teaser. Several viewers objected to specific visuals, with some describing the footage as "grossly obscene, sexually explicit." The backlash quickly moved beyond social media, drawing criticism from organisations and prompting formal complaints to regulatory bodies over alleged offensive content and religious concerns.

Toxic controversy and official complaints

The Women’s Commission criticised the teaser for presenting a sex scene, arguing that the imagery crossed acceptable limits. A Christian group approached the Central Board of Film Certification and other authorities, alleging the teaser hurt religious feelings. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Dr. Jayamala urged restraint, advising the public not to judge an entire film based only on teaser snippets.

Amid this controversy, interest in the cast has remained high. Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups casts Yash in the central role. The ensemble includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria. The script is credited to Yash and Geetu Mohandas, with Geetu Mohandas also directing the bilingual project.

Toxic release date, schedule and delays

Production houses KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations are backing the film, with Venkat K Narayana and Yash listed as producers. Toxic was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19. That date would have put it in direct competition with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, at the Indian box office.

The makers then shifted the release to June 4 because of instability in the Middle East linked to the Iran-Israel conflict. That decision removed the clash with Dhurandhar 2 and was the first major delay. Fresh rumours later suggested a further push, but Tara’s latest comments now indicate the June 4, 2026 window stands.

Tara addressed the issue during a conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan on Farah’s latest YouTube vlog. While speaking about work and personal life, Tara responded to questions about Toxic and dismissed talk of another postponement. In the middle of the chat, Tara clearly stated that the team was still working towards June 4, 2026.

Toxic character reveal and director Geetu Mohandas’ note

Tara’s first look as Rebecca from Toxic was unveiled on January 3 this year. On that day, Geetu Mohandas posted a long note on social media, explaining a strong emotional link with Tara. Geetu wrote of feeling an instinctive urge to "shield Tara," describing Tara’s private nature and the comfort Tara finds in a protective shell.

Geetu added, "She absorbed more than she articulated. She listened more than she disclosed. I often pondered if I should guide her more closely. Yet in her quietness, something profound was developing. When she finally embraced her role, what unfolded was nothing less than stunning, stemming from an inner awareness she had all along. She completely astonished me, in the most wonderful way. I am certain she will amaze everyone else as well. @tarasutaria I cherish you".

The film, announced in 2023, moved into production in 2024 and was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English. With a confirmed release date, continuing public scrutiny of its teaser, and a prominent cast led by Yash, Toxic is set to remain in focus as it proceeds towards its June 4, 2026 theatrical debut.
