Junglee - Review

By Super Admin

Junglee is an action film aimed at the masses with some well-directed stunt scenes, comedy and a little romance. The film is sprinkled with a social message at the end to make it more appealing to family audiences. Vijay's six pack abs and Andrita Ray's sensuous performance are the highlights of the film.

While almost every youngster wish to become a filmi hero, Shambulinga alias Junglee (Vijay) wants to make it big as a villain. Obviously, Junglee is less than good-looking and is not too well-educated either. Hence he wishes for the less refined role of a villain. Thus, Junglee arrives in town and tries different ways to get into films. Desperate for a job to sustain himself, Junglee is introduced to Don Swamy through his trusted friend Narasimha. Junglee is a given a job as the Don's driver. One day, Junglee saves the Don's son from some attackers much to the happiness of the Don. Junglee, with the body and swiftness of a cheetah, fights hard and saves the kid. Soon, predictably, Junglee becomes the don's right hand man, an expert in attacks and counter-attacks. But Junglee falls in love and just like any woman, Padma (Andrita Ray) his lover, asks him to abandon his profession to marry her. Now Junglee is in a dilemma. On the one hand, the don will kill him if he leaves; on the other hand is Padma, who truly loves him. The rest of the story revolves around how Junglee comes out of this predicament to emerge a winner.

Vijay has the right body and gestures to be a gangster. He has developed six packs for this film and is extremely good in action scenes. Andrita Ray, in her second film, has transformed herself effortlessly into a sensuous beauty. Her much-famed rain song is indeed very steamy and will no doubt do wonders for her career. Rangayana Raghu, Adhi Lokesh, Sureschandra and Megabhagavatar have rendered good support.

Rockline Venkatesh, after a moderate hit Bombaat, has produced a film targeted at the action-loving public. Dirctor Soori deserves appreciation for the racy narration and adding some freshness to the storyline which has nothing new to boast of. Harikrishna has scored three lovely tunes which are picturised very well.

Junglee provides three hours of wholesome entertainment and is worth the money.
