Male Barali Manju Irali - Review

By By: Shekhar H Hooli

Vijayalakshmi Singh had earlier directed Kannada movie Bandhana, which was an attempt to find the values of family relationship. Now, she seems to have gone a step ahead in her latest movie Male Barali Manju Irali and tried to find more meaning to relationships. She has weaved a beautiful love story.

Although the movie Male Barali Manju Irali apparently seems to be a triangular love story, it is about strengthening and bringing affection in the relationship. Here, no relationship will break instead small misunderstandings lead to fight.

The first half of the movie introduces the relationships between various characters. And development of these relationship moves like mist. In the second half, the relationships are trapped in the heavy rainfall of sentiments that vary from time to time. Keeping rain and mist as symbols, the director has weaved a wonderful triangular love story. Rain and mist work like signature tunes in the movie.

Sneha (Parvathi Menon) is a daughter of an estate owner (Jai Jagadish). Shivappa is a work in her father's estate. Vishwas (Srinagar Kitty) and Prem (Nagakiran) are his sons. Sneha returns to Madikeri after fourteen years to be with her father. She is infatuated by Vishwas, meanwhile Prem, who is fashion designer in Bangalore, develops love for her. What happens next and who will win the heart of Sneha will form the awesome climax of the movie.

Director Vijayalakshmi Singh seems to be successful in the selection of the characters. Parvathi Menon, Srinagar Kitty and Jai Jagadish"s performance is the highlight of the movie.

Parvathi Menon seems to have understood the length and width of her role as Sneha. Like a matured actress, she has given wonderful performance as naughty girl, friend, daughter and a lover girl. Savaari fame Srinagar Kitty has once again proved his talent as Vishvas.

Jai Jagadish has also lived up to his character as father. Nagakiran, Sharan, Sadhu Kokila, Umashri, Hema Chaudhary and Mukyamantri Chandru have also done justice to their roles.

Mano Murthy"s music is another highlight of the movie. His background score has really helped in enhancing the symbolism of the rain and mist. Ajay Vincent"s camera work is superb. BA Madhu"s dialogues play a dominant role in creating sentiments in the movie.
