Movie Yagna Review

After the failure of movie Maharshi, director Krishna Brahma has come out with his action-cum-horror movie Yagna. Once again, he has proved his incompetency with illogical narration in the movie. He has failed to handle the events in the right way.

The director seems to have stolen a few sequences from Chrami starrer Telugu movie Mantra. Adding a little from his side, he has tried to create own storyline, but it has turned out to be a weak and uninteresting script. It is also said that producer Shankare Gowda has planned to dub the movie in Telugu by introducing Telugu artistes like Jayaprakash Reddy, Venu Madhav, MS Narayan and LB Sriram in the movie.

However, actor Sri Murali, who created a hero image from his debut movie Chandra Chakori, should not have chosen the movie. Despite Murali giving superb performance, Yagna fails to drive the audience to theatre. Although it is a horror movie, it proves to be uninteresting and unexciting.

Anji (Sri Murali) is sent to a haunted farmhouse to find out the hidden treasure by land-mafia don Varadaraj (Jayaprakash Reddy). Yagna (Priyanka) along with friends visits the place, which is her forefather's property. She falls in love with Anji and declares it to him. How Anji, a police officer, unearths the curious events and murders will form the story.

Murali"s performance is the only attraction in the movie. He rocks the audiences in action scenes and climax. But hereafter, he should read the story and select the right one. Debutant actress Priyanka has also acted well, but her exposing of skin goes beyond the limit in song sequences.

Om Prakash Rao"s comedy and Chaitra"s voice are another highlight of the movie. But music director Murali Krishna, who came to limelight with Neene Neene music, has failed to impress the audience with his music. Niranjan Babu's camera work can be graded as below average.

Finally, it can be said that director Krishna Brahma has spoiled his good horror story with poor narration, rough script and crude sequences, but Sri Murali"s action remains as the highlight of the show.

One can see the movie Yagna once at least for Sri Murali"s action.
