Shri Harikathe – Review

By By: Shekhar H Hooli

Director Dayal Padmanabhan had made it to headline with his controversial movie Circus. After a long gap after it, he is now back with Shri Harikathe. Dayal is the narrator of the film. It is a family entertainer to which he has added all masala elements and made it good watch.

Shri Harikathe is all about a man's marriage, fidelity and temptations. The highlights of the film are Srimurali's acting, Naveen Krishna's comedy and ML Prasanna's punch dialogues. Sameer's music and Rakesh' camera work are the other plus points of the movie. But slow-paced narration of the film makes it a tough task in creating interest among the audiences.

Dayal Padmanabhan has chosen a simple story for the movie Shri Harikathe, which deals with the story of innocent and intelligent boy's personal life. The director has filled all sorts of elements and enough number of twists to make it interesting. But his dragging narration of the story holds a test to the patience of the viewers. The first half is a bubble gum and second half is quite interesting and is a joy ride for audience.

Shrihari (Srimurali) is a young businessman and he marries Prakrithi (Radhika Gandhi) with a condition that he would not have sex with her until she completes her Ph.D. As she goes on postponing her research work, he turns desperate and becomes closer to another girl called Pooja Krishnamurthy (Pooja Gandhi). What happens next will form the interest part of the movie.

As innocent husband, Srimurali really fits in the role. He has delivered a wonderful performance. As his friend, Naveen Krishna rocks the show. In fact in some sequences, he appears a notch better than Murali in acting. Pooja Gandhi seems to have improved when compared to her previous movies in 2009. Radhika is also good in her respective role.

Sameer Kulkarni's music is good and two of his compositions are worth listening. Rakesh's picturisation is also commendable.

Although the movie Shri Harikathe moves at snail pace, it has puns, saucy dialogues and audacious twists for audience's interest. It is a good family entertainer, which can be enjoyed once.
