Mungaru Male fame director Preetham Gubbi's latest Kannada movie Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam is an interesting movie with all commercial elements and superb production values. The movie has given totally different looks to the Kannada veteran actors like Duniya Vijay and Golden girl Ramya. Maximum portion of the movie has been shot on the sets created in Mysore. But it does not seem to live up to the hype that was created before its release.

Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam is an action-cum-romantic cinema. Vijay's action and Ramya's glamourous performance are the major highlights. V Harikrishna's music, S Krishna's camera work, Rangayana Raghu and Dattana's comedy and dance and action sequences, dialogues, art direction, make up and costumes are the other attractions.

Although the movie has predictable storyline, Preetham Gubbi has made it an interesting watch by mixing it with all the commercial elements. The first half of the film is very interesting and entertaining. Especially, Rangayana Raghu and Dattana's Shahrukh-Kajol act is worth of your money. But the movie hits the rough patch after the interval as the director has devoted the second half to show the heroism of Johny. The lengthy climax tests the patience of the viewers.

Johny (Duniya Vijay) is a social worker residing in a middle class housing colony called 'Gandhi Colony'. He is everyone's favourite in the area and has enough love to shower on everyone. He even runs a Johny Social Service Center to address their woes. But he is bowled over by an NRI girl named Priya, who returns from America to 'Gandhi Colony', where her grandfather (Dattana) resides. Despite being a black boy, how Johny wins the heart of the white girl will form the climax of the movie.

Preetham Gubbi has given totally new getups to both Vijay and Ramya. Vijay steals the heart of the viewers with his fantastic performances in dance, action, comedy, sentimental sequences. Ramya has sported tight and sexy costumes for the first time in a song. The make up, costumes, dialogue delivery of both are very good. Dattanna and Rangayana Raghu's comedy timings are equally good. Sharan, Achyuthkumar, Dattanna, Sadhu Kokila have also delivered wonderful performances.

S Krishna's picturisation is excellent and is very pleasant to the eyes. V Harikrishna has composed four lovely tunes like 'Eradu Shirt Button Bichkondu...', 'Don't you know I am sexy...', 'Ellavannu Helisuva Nalagege...' and 'Yaava Seemeya Mayagaathiye...' All of them haunt the audience even after they are out of the theatre. The choreography, costumes, make up and art works in the songs enhance the quality of the film.

In a nutshell, Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam is a good entertainer with a few weaknesses. It can be a good time-pass for this weekend. Watch it at least to enjoy the glamour of Ramya.
