Director
Pradeep
Raj's
latest
Kannada
film
Kirataka
is
a
remake
of
hit
Tamil
film
Kalavani.
The
movie
has
come
out
really
well,
but
it
has
some
lengthy
sequences
when
compared
to
the
original.
If
these
scenes
were
trimmed
during
editing,
the
film
could
have
been
even
better.
Kirataka
is
a
romantic
comedy,
which
features
actor
Yash
in
a
totally
new
getup.
His
energetic
performance
is
the
major
highlight
of
the
film.
V
Manohar's
music,
R
Selva's
picturisation,
dialogues,
costumes
and
beautiful
locations
are
its
other
attractions.
The
movie
is
a
love
story
of
a
wayward
boy
and
the
director
has
remained
very
honest
to
the
original
by
copying
frame
to
frame.
Meanwhile,
he
seems
to
have
struggled
to
convince
his
stand
to
the
viewers
by
including
unwanted
scenes.
This
too-much-of
spoon
feeding
seems
to
bore
the
audience.
Nandisha
(Yash),
who
is
fondly
called
Kirataka,
is
a
wayward
youth
in
the
village
and
is
a
tormentor
with
his
gang.
His
father
(TS
Nagabharana),
who
lives
in
Dubai,
is
sending
money
to
his
mother
(Tara)
for
livelihood.
Nandisha
smartly
snatches
money
from
her
and
spends
it
for
playing
cards,
smoking
and
drinking.
He
falls
in
love
with
Nethra
(Oviya),
whose
brother
lives
in
a
small
village
that
has
strong
rivalry
to
his
village.
How
he
gets
his
lady
love
is
an
interesting
story.
Yash
rocks
the
audience
in
his
whole
new
getup.
He
steals
the
show
with
his
superb
dance
and
dialogue
delivery.
Oviya,
who
has
played
the
same
role
in
the
original,
looks
pretty
and
naughty.
As
a
mother,
Tara
has
delivered
natural
and
innocent
performance.
TS
Nagabharana,
Sankesh
Kashi
and
Daniel
George
are
also
good
in
their
respectively
roles.
In
the
technical
front,
V
Manohar's
music
is
the
main
highlight.
His
compositions
like
'Kendavare
Hoove...',
'Dankanaka...'
and
'Dama
Damma...'
are
superb.
Selva
has
beautifully
captured
the
greenery
of
Mandya.
Art
direction,
costume,
make
up
and
editing
are
also
commendable.
Overall,
it
is
a
wonderful
love
story,
which
can
be
watched
and
enjoyed
at
least
once.
