Ugramm - Movie Review - Srimurali Is Back
Both Srimurali and Haripriya are awaiting for the huge break in Sandalwood after Sriharikathe and Kallara Santhe, respectively. Ugramm can also be termed as the perfect comeback for the duo as it is a mixture of love, fear, violence, bravery. Srimurali is seen as an angry young man, which will reminds us about his role in his earlier movie Shambu.
The film opens with entry of Haripriya, who comes back to her native in India from Australia to visit her mother's grave. She will be attacked by the group of rogues, and will be saved by Agasthya (Srimurali). The first half of Ugramm is mainly set in the backdrop of Kolar and Sira. To narrate Agasthya's background, the story will be taken to Mughor town, which will be the hometown for the rowdism.
Thrilling Background Score
Though the music (songs) is not very much impressive, music-composer Ravi Basrur is successful in scoring the thrilling background score for the film. It is perfectly mixed with the story and increases the movie's pace.
Amazing DOP
The camerawork is the main highlight of the film, which is done by Bollywood cinematographer Ravi Varman. The visualisations in the movie's trailer is the perfect example for his work.
Srimurali
Srimurali is the show stealer in the film with his spectacular performance in acting, actions, dialogue delivery, romance and stunts. He is back to form.
No Less Than Any Hollywood Movie
The backdrop and editing part of the movie will prove that Kannada filmmakers are no less than any Hollywood movie makers.
Haripriya
Haripriya is not a new face to Kannada audience, she is also a show stealer along with Murali as they share an amazing on-screen chemistry. Her role as an innocent girl is impressive.
Atul Kulkarni
Critically acclaimed actor Atul Kulkarni is also seen as an angry young man in the movie. He plays Avinash's son's role in the film. His role as son, who will be desiring to come to his father's place, is impressive.
Supporting Roles
Equal importance has been given to all the supporting characters in the film, which includes Thilak Shekar, Avinash, Jai Jagadeesh, Atul Kulkarni, Padmaja Rao, Manjunath Reddy and others.
Direction
The success of the movie should mainly be credited to director Prashanth Neel. Although he is newbie, he has used brilliant techniques in the film, which shows the creativity of young blood. Sandalwood has got another promising director.
Negative Aspects
Too much of violence in second half of the film may distance the family audience's turnout for the movie. Songs could have been avoided in few parts or it should have been given equal importance with the background score.
Verdict
Ugramm is the movie, which has finally reached the expectation level of the audience this year. No doubt Srimurali will get Stardom with this film. A must watch movie if you love Ram Gopal Varma's movies.
