Choi Jung Woo Death Reason: Agency Issues Official Statement
Noted South Korean actor Choi Jung-woo has passed away at the age of 68. While the exact reason behind his death is yet to be known, the actor's agency, Bless ENT, issued an official statement announcing his demise.
According to Koreaboo, the agency's official statement read, "Actor Choi Jung Woo has passed away. The specific cause of death has not yet been revealed." The agency confirmed to Mail Business that the actor breathed his last this morning (Tuesday, May 27).
As reported by Osen, the funeral of late Choi Jung-woo is scheduled to take place at Gimpo Our Hospital Funeral Hall, on May 29 (Thursday) at 10 AM KST. He will be buried in the Suwon Yeonhwa Cemetery reportedly.
Who Was Choi Jung Woo?
Born on February 17, 1957, Choi Jung Woo was widely known for playing supporting roles in several kdramas including 'Doctor Stranger', 'The Legend Of The Blue Sea', 'City Hunter', and 'Marry Me Now' to name a few. He also appeared in films like 'The Suicide Forecast', 'The Frontline' and 'Deranged' among others.
Jung-woo made his acting debut as a theatre actor with the play 'The Life of an Actor' back in 1975.
Was Choi Jung Woo Married?
Choi Jung Woo preferred to keep his private life away from the limelight. However, during his appearance in one of the episodes of MBN's 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' last year, Choi Jung-woo made a rare revelation about his married life. On the show, the actor confessed that he'd been married thrice.
As reported by ChosunBiz, the actor opened up on his first marriage and said, "I think people who looked at me positively might now view me negatively, so I'm disclosing it for the first time. I rushed into marriage in my 30s. Honestly, I didn't want to. I made a lot of money from the play 'Please Turn Off the Fire' after the divorce. (sic)"
He was in his 50s when he got married for the second time to a woman who had a child. His second wife had suggested getting their marriage registered in the 3rd year of marriage. "During the toughest times, my wife was in America. It was then that I developed diabetes. I told her, 'This disease is because of you. Divorce.' She did not say a word and just divorced. She said she would give up all the property. I became a beggar, (sic)" he added.
Talking about his third wedding, Choi Jung Woo referred to his third wife as his 'best wife'. He continued, "I met the best wife. We dated for about four years. She was a Korean Japanese employee at a new company. She had a personality disorder related to nagging. She had anger management issues. She also had ADHD. She is 11 years younger than me. It was her first marriage. When she got angry, she called me 'old man.'"
