Is The 4th Generation Of K-pop Better Than The 3rd Generation?

The question of whether the 3rd- or 4th-generation fans are better is becoming increasingly popular and a topic of discussion among K-pop fans. Some fans consider the 3rd generation of K-pop idols as the best representatives of the group while others claim that the idols from the 4th generation brought unprecedented success to the music industry.

Is The 4th Generation Of K-pop Better Than The 3rd

The 3rd generation, which includes such famous groups as BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO, TWICE, Red Velvet, and SEVENTEEN, can be considered the generation of artists who made Korean pop music famous around the world. They set multiple world records and played their concerts in all possible stadiums. The 3rd generation produced iconic K-pop songs and concepts that are still highly appreciated by fans.

In contrast, the 4th generation has achieved success in areas that the previous generations were only able to dream of. Artists like Stray Kids, aespa, IVE, TXT, LE SSERAFIM, ATEEZ, and NewJeans have been able to utilize the power of TikTok and social media to their advantage. Their content is easily accessed by fans around the world, which allows them to create immense fanbases quickly. The other aspects of the generation include their incredible performances, choreographies, and visuals.

Comparing the two generations is a challenge since they succeeded in different times. The 3rd generation played a significant role in establishing K-pop internationally, whereas the 4th generation is capitalizing on that success. If not for the success of artists belonging to the 3rd generation, today's idols would have never gained so much success.

In the end, what makes the 4th generation superior to the 3rd generation comes down to individual preference. Those who see merit in cultural significance and legendary discographies may gravitate toward the 3rd generation, but those who appreciate groundbreaking stage acts and online era success stories may choose the 4th generation. Instead of competing with one another, both have been instrumental in the creation of the modern-day K-pop phenomenon.
