Kim Soo Hyun Controversy Major Update: Actor Seizes GaroSero YouTuber's Property
The defamation lawsuit between Kim Soo Hyun and GaroSero Research Institute has hit a major point. According to Money Today, the Seoul Central District Court has approved a 'provisional seizure' request filed by Soo-hyun's agency GOLD MEDALIST.
As reported by Allkpop, the agency has seized two apartments owned by GaroSero's owner Kim Se-eui (the head of GaroSero's official YouTube channel) as a part of the 12 billion KRW defamation lawsuit. Reportedly, the two real estate properties in question are - a 120.27㎡ unit in Seocho-gu and a 208.65㎡ unit in Apgujeong, Gangnam-gu. To note, the Apgujeong apartment is reportedly co-owned by Se-eui and his sister with him holding the 50% share.
The seizure targetting Kim's share along with the total claimed value is estimated to be around 4 billion KRW (2 billion per property).
Explaining the scenario, legal expert Roh Jong Eon said, "This means the court found the lawsuit submitted by Kim Soo Hyun's side sufficiently compelling. They substantiated who was responsible for the defamatory actions and detailed the estimated damage to the agency. (sic)"
He further clarified that the final damage amount might change during the main trial since the decision was made based on written documentation without a hearing from Kim Se-eui or any of the family members of late Kim Sae-ron.
As reported by OSEN, Kim Soo-hyun's side added, "We've filed a damages lawsuit against Kim Seui, but even if we win, we can't receive compensation if he has no assets. That's why we requested a provisional seizure, to secure his property in advance so we can collect if we win. We also had to explain the reason for the seizure when applying. The court seems to have found our reasoning valid."
