Kim Soo-Hyun Faces 3 billion KRW Lawsuit From Advertisers Amid Kim Sae Ron Scandal, More May Follow
Kim Soo-hyun is facing serious legal challenges from advertisers alleging breach of contract, with claims potentially exceeding 60 crore rupees. This situation compounds his troubled public image linked to personal controversies.

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun, known for his roles in various hit dramas, finds himself embroiled in a significant legal battle. Reports have surfaced that advertisers are suing him for a staggering sum, potentially exceeding 60 crore rupees. This legal challenge adds a new layer of difficulty to Kim Soo-hyun's already troubled public image, following a controversy linked to his rumored relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-Ron.
The heart of the issue lies in allegations surrounding Kim Soo-hyun's professional commitments. On April 28, two companies, identified only as A and B, initiated legal proceedings against Kim Soo-hyun and his representation, GOLDMEDALIST. They demand the return of fees paid for modeling and additional damages, with their combined claims reportedly surpassing 3 billion KRW (around 2 million USD or over 16 crore rupees). The situation appears to be worsening for Kim Soo-hyun, as other brands, including a Company C, are contemplating legal action for breach of trust and the early termination of advertising agreements.
The controversy that has significantly impacted Kim Soo-hyun's career involves his personal life, particularly his connection to Kim Sae-Ron. Speculation suggests that the actor was romantically involved with Sae-Ron while she was a teenager, a claim he has repeatedly denied. Tragically, Sae-Ron took her own life on Kim Soo-hyun's birthday last year, casting a shadow over his personal and professional life.
An entertainment lawyer, Park Sung-Woo from Woori Law Firm, provided insight into the scale of Kim Soo-hyun's advertising deals, revealing that the actor had contracts with about 15 brands, with domestic contracts valued at around 1 to 1.2 billion KRW each. Park Sung-Woo noted, "Advertisers usually try to avoid being the first to publicly sue a model. However, once news of a lawsuit emerges, it is likely that more advertisers will follow." This indicates that the current lawsuits could be just the beginning of a series of legal challenges for Kim Soo-hyun, with the potential financial implications exceeding 10 billion KRW (approximately 60 crore rupees).
The unfolding legal saga surrounding Kim Soo-hyun reflects the complexities of celebrity endorsements and the consequences of personal controversies on professional relationships. As the legal battles progress, the actor faces not only a tarnished reputation but also the daunting prospect of substantial financial losses.
