Amid all the chaos, Kim Soo Hyun has filed a criminal lawsuit against the Garosero Research Institute and Kim Sae Ron's family for "defamation, stalking and harassment."

This incident makes fans remember the time when Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun committed suicide. Lee Sun Kyun died in 2023 after being subjected to "blackmail and slander." As per the BBC's report, police found the body of Lee Sun Kyun in a car in December 2023. The actor was under investigation for the alleged use of an illegal drug ever since October 2023. Lee Sun Kyun's agency said after the actor's death, "There is no way to contain the sorrow and despair. We respectfully ask that you refrain from spreading false facts based on speculation... so that final journey will not be unfair (sic)."

Kim Soo Hyun previously said in his press conference, "I'll talk about the part you're most curious about. I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. And it is also not true that the deceased made a tragic choice because of me turning away or because my agency pressured her about her debt (sic)." He further added, "Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were both just ordinary lovers like everyone else. We met with good feelings for each other, and as time passed, we broke up. After that, we rarely contacted each other (sic)." Kim Soo Hyun went viral on social media for breaking down during his press conference. The photo of him crying went viral on social media.
