Squid Game Season 2: Squid Game season 2 is all set to release on December 26, 2024, after the three years of gap from the season 1 release. The new season brought plenty of fresh faces that include a controversial character, Hyun-ju, who play the role of a transgender getting into the deadly game to win money for gender surgery. Hyun-ju is portrayed by talented Korean actor Park Sung-hoon, who rose to fame by playing the role of Yoon Eun-seong in Queen of Tears.
Who Is Park Sung-hoon Aka Hyun-ju In Squid Game Season 2?
Park Sung-hoon made acting debut with The Frozen Flower back in 2008, later he garnered critical acclaim with breakout role Seong-hun in Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum in 2018. He became a popular face after appearing in movie My Only One & webseries The Glory. Later he garnered worldwide fame by appearing in Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won's Queen of Tears. He has also earned accolade in 2020 and won KBS Drama Award for his performance in Into The Ring.
The actor is expected to 'break down stereotypes' with his portrayal as transgender in the popular Korean series. He told Netflix about his character, "Hyun-ju is a former special force soldier and a transgender. She joins the game because she's short on money for her gender-affirming surgery. Even though she faces prejudice and tough situations, she shows incredible strength, decisiveness and natural leadership. Through her resilience, she breaks down stereotypes and shines as an inspiring character."
Apart from Park Sung-hoon, the series also stars Wi Ha-jun, Lee Byung-hun, Lee Jung-jae, and Gong Yoo, among others. The new faces in Squid Game S2 includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an, among others.
