THE TYRANT'S CHEF OVERVIEW: PLOT AND CAST DETAILS

tvN's upcoming fantasy romance drama, The Tyrant's Chef, is set to bring an intriguing mix of time travel, culinary expertise, and palace politics. Starring YoonA and Lee Chae Min, the series marks their first collaboration and promises an exciting blend of romance and drama. The cast also includes Start-Up fame Kang Han Na and The Roundup actor Choi Gwi Hwa, adding depth to the narrative.

The storyline follows Yeon Jiyoung (played by YoonA), a talented chef on the brink of achieving her biggest dream-becoming the head chef of a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Paris. However, on the very day she wins France's most prestigious culinary competition, an unexpected twist of fate transports her back in time to the Joseon era.

There, she crosses paths with King Lee Heon (Lee Chae Min), a tyrannical ruler with an extraordinarily refined palate. His ability to detect the slightest variations in flavors based on weather conditions makes him a true connoisseur of gourmet cuisine. When Lee Heon gets a taste of Jiyoung's cooking, he is so captivated that he brings her to his palace, where she begins crafting exquisite dishes for the monarch. While their relationship starts off on a tense note, their fiery clashes gradually give way to an unexpected romance.

Adding more intrigue to the drama, Kang Han Na plays Kang Mokjoo, a highly ambitious concubine determined to claim power at any cost. Her ruthless pursuit of influence within the palace could prove to be a dangerous game. Meanwhile, Choi Gwi Hwa takes on the role of Prince Je San, Lee Heon's cruel and scheming rival. Though he outwardly indulges in a life of pleasure following the former king's demise, he harbors a secret plan to overthrow Lee Heon and seize the throne for himself.

With a gripping plot that intertwines food, power, and romance, The Tyrant's Chef is shaping up to be a must-watch drama for K-drama fans worldwide.
